เย็น วันหนึ่ง ธีรเดชประกาศข่าวดีเสียงลั่นบ้านด้วยความตื่นเต้น
“คุณพ่อครับ คุณแม่ครับ ผมมีข่าวใหญ่มาบอก
ผม จะแต่งงานกับสาวสวยที่สุดในอำเภอนี้
เธอ ชื่อโอปอลล์ครับ บ้านอยู่ถัดเราไปนิดเดียว”
หลังอาหารเย็นผ่านไป พ่อก็ดึงธีรเดชไปคุยกันสองต่อสอง
“ลูกเอ๋ยพ่อมีเรื่องคุยด้วย พ่อกับแม่แต่งงานกันมาสามสิบปี
แม่ ของลูกเป็นเมียที่ดี เป็นแม่ศรีเรือนที่ไม่มีอะไรบกพร่อง
แต่ เสียอย่างเดียว คือ แม่เขาไม่เก่งเรื่องบนเตียง
พ่อ เลยแอบไปมีอะไรกับผู้หญิงอื่นไว้เยอะ
ความ จริงน่ะ โอปอลล์เป็นพี่น้องกับลูกเพียงแต่คนละแม่ ลูกคงแต่งงานไม่ได้”
หัวใจของธีร เดชแหลกสลาย มีอาการซึมเศร้าไปร่วมปี
กว่าจะทำใจ ได้ และออกไปจีบสาวคนใหม่ ไม่นานนักก็กลับบ้านมาประกาศข่าวดี
“ผมคุยกับเป้ ยแล้วครับ คุณพ่อคุณแม่ อีกสองเดือนเราจะแต่งงานกัน”
คุณพ่อดึงเอาตัวธีรเดชไปคุยกันสองต่องสองอีก ครั้ง
“เป้ยก็เป็นน้องของลูกเหมือนกัน พ่อเสียใจจริงๆ ที่ลูกจะไม่ได้แต่งงาน”
ธีรเดชหงุด หงิดจนคลั่ง ในที่สุดก็ตัดสินใจไปฟ้องแม่
“พ่อทำงี้ได้ไงพ่อเที่ยวไปมีลูกกับผู้หญิงอื่น ทั่วอำเภอ
แล้วอย่าง นี้เมื่อไรผมถึงจะได้แต่งงาน พอผมไปรักกับสาวคนไหน
ก็กลาย เป็นว่าจีบน้องสาวคนละแม่เข้าทุกที”
แม่ของธีรเดชได้ยินแล้วแทน ที่จะโกรธกลับหัวเราะอย่างอารมณ์ดี
“อย่าไปสนใจที่พ่อพูดเลย ลูกเอ๋ย ที่จริงแล้วเขาก็ไม่ได้เป็นพ่อของลูกหรอก”

“เนื้อสัตว์เป็นอะไรที่แย่มาก น้ำอัดลมก็กัดกร่อนระบบทางเดินอาหาร อาหารที่ขายกันอยู่ทั่วไปก็เต็มไปด้วยผงชูรส แม้แต่ผักก็มีพิษภัยแฝงไว้มากกว่าที่ทุกคนจะคาดคิด นี่ยังไม่นับเชื้อโรคสารพัดชนิด จำนวนอีกไม่รู้เท่าไหร่ที่คุณได้รับจากน้ำดื่ม” เขาใส่ต่ออย่างเมามัน
